In line with Sections 6 and 104 of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), the Government of Ghana grants license to interested investors to buy, refine and export gold from Ghana. Application for the license is made to the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission for the necessary review and subsequent recommendation to the Hon. Minister.
The license is normally granted for a period of three years and may be renewed by the Hon. Minister for additional terms. Shipments of rough diamonds to and from Ghana are subjected to rules and regulations as prescribed and shall be in accordance with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
